About Guide In North
In 1988, I came to Kiruna to join the Tourist-Sport line, a two-year education focusing on activities in mountains, nature, guiding and tourism. In 2018, 30 years later, my business dream came true. In consultation with my husband Kent Hammar, we decided the company's focus, name and what conditions there were to be able to arrange different types of tours. The biggest interest from the company's side is good hospitality, people should feel safe and welcome from the first email conversation until we say goodbye at the hotel entrance.
Being able to socialize with people with similar interests as myself, animals, nature and the fantastic planet earth gives vitality and joy. All in all, it gives a sense of context, you feel that you are part of something bigger, the company, eager tourists, nature and all experiences are what is important. What we experience here and now, beyond all stress and material status needs.
The company is constantly evolving and we try new activities, we see opportunities instead of obstacles. From having the activities northern lights, moose safaris, ice fishing, snowshoe summit hiking, hiking and fishing, we have now expanded with city guidance and different kind of wellness activities.
